Neo-classical Night Out
Brooklyn Rider
Tuesday, March 7, 2023
7:30 pm, The Monarch
Think you know chamber music? Think again. Eclectic string quartet Brooklyn Rider is transforming the 300-year-old form into a vital 21st-century ensemble. With the energy of young rock stars, they create “a Beethoven-goes-indie foray into making classical music accessible but also celebrating why it was good in the first place” -Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. With their gripping style and unquenchable appetite for adventure, they’re as much at home at the SXSW festival as Carnegie Hall, and as likely to trot out a Rufus Wainwright song as a Schubert masterpiece. Honoring deep roots and endless possibilities, Brooklyn Rider has become known for unusual works and teaming with unique collaborators, such as Béla Fleck and members of Wilco, and was selected by Philip Glass himself to record his complete string quartet. Step outside the box for an innovative evening at The Monarch with Brooklyn Rider.
